Module 8: Citing sources

It is very important to cite sources you have used for words or ideas. Know when to use:

  • a direct quote - the author’s ideas and words are important
  • a paraphrase – the author’s ideas but not the words are important (1)

Note: It is not necessary to cite when the information is common knowledge.
